Young Adults
We believe that God established the church for the purpose of showing the world the power and message of his love--we call this message the Gospel. He does this by igniting a process of transformation in individuals and uniting these into local communities where the values of his Kingdom--loving God and neighbor--are expressed. SBC is one such local community, and the SBC Young Adult Ministry is focused on 20-somethings (post-high school, singles, college students, young marrieds without kids and some with small children) who are learning how to be the community of Christ and demonstrate the Gospel to our world.
The big picture is our sharing with each other and our world the truth and implications of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. There are several smaller elements of this big picture. Devoting time to expressing our adoration, gratitude, and dependence on God reminds us that we exist for his glory and not our own. Digging into the Bible helps us to understand more about who God is and what he is about. Sharing experiences together deepens our bond as followers of Christ and members of his body. Discovering the ways that God has uniquely enabled each individual to serve and equipping them to do so helps us to become a community where every member can participate in God's mission for his church. At Sierra Bible, we call these the four steps on the Journey of Grace: Worship, Learning, Fellowship, and Serving.
Our focus at this gathering is the "Digging into the Bible" aspect mentioned above. We are currently studying the story of The Holy Spirit, The Church, and The Gospel as told by Luke in the biblical book of Acts. This group meets in room AE-5 at the SBC campus.
This group spends time with each of the four steps listed above. Sometimes we devote our gatherings solely to worship, sometimes to learning, other times to fellowship (just having fun!), and still others to serving. Eric & Tara Thompson host this group in their home. Due to the fact that different gatherings are devoted to different activities, the times and locations for this group do change at times, so call or email for details on this week's plans, or visit our Facebook page for the most up-to-date announcements.
This gathering is on a journey through Matthew's witness of the life and teachings of Jesus. David & Amber Osborn host this group in their home. This group has a men's study, led by David Osborn, meeting concurrently with a women's study led by Amy Lowe.
