Karis_and_KelsieInfants & Toddlers:

Nursery and Toddler Care is offered during all service hours. The Infant/Toddler program is for children 1 month – 2 years. Children are moved to the preschool program at the quarter break that they turn 3, and are potty trained.

If you would like to keep your baby with you during Sunday Worship, the Cry Room is available for your use. It is located to the right as you enter the foyer.

Preschoolers:

Preschoolers have a program designed specifically for them, and is available during all three service hours. Our greatest privilege with this age group is being able to minister to our “youngest saints.” Each hour includes music, a Bible story, a memory verse, an activity sheet, and snacks! Worship is an integral part of each hour of ministry.

Age-appropriate curriculum is available in every service hour. “Discipleland” Curriculum is used during the middle hour, and “Lifeway” Curriculum is used during the 1st and 3rd service hours.

If you have any further questions please e-mail Jane Houston, Director of Children's Ministries, or call her at 775-747-1217 ext. 229.

1st-6th graders

Come and join us for a morning of fun and fellowship in the presence of the King!

We, as holy and dearly loved children of the King, are all “Kids of the Kingdom!” We welcome all ages to come and learn about the great value the High King has placed upon each one of us! Children's Ministries has programs for children during each hour on Sunday mornings. The following is a list of programs available for grades 1-6:

Sunday 8:30 a.m. “Kids of the Kingdom” meets in the fireside room in the east hallway, close to the church offices. This program is more of a “small group” feel, and children are encouraged to participate in discussion as well as give feedback to the topic at hand.

Sunday 9:45 a.m. - Children’s Shepherds serve the children in Sunday School classes, designed for their particular age group – 1st & 2nd graders, 3rd & 4th graders, and 5th & 6th graders. After a lively time of worship, the children are dismissed to their particular class. Class time includes a Bible story, memory verse, a snack (from time to time), and an activity paper. Please join us as we gather for a fun time of "upbeat" worship, before dividing up into our individual classes!

JOYFUL NOISE – our Children’s Choir also meets during the 9:45 hour during the Spring and Fall. Their performances include a spring performance, and a winter performance. All children are welcome to participate.

Sunday 11:00 a.m. – "Kids of the Kingdom” meets across the courtyard in the Fellowship Hall. Children’s church is more diverse, and includes all ages, 1st-6th grade. The children are taught basic “church etiquette”, an age-appropriate Bible story, learn memory verses through games, and practice different forms of serving others. Snacks, games, contests, and crafts will all be part of the Sunday celebration from time to time!

If you have any further questions please e-mail Jane Houston, Director of Children's Ministries, or call her at 775-747-1217 ext. 229.

Children’s Ministries is a place in the church where we eagerly accept, as a part of our team, anyone who has a love for children, and a desire to serve them. All Christians who have attended our church for more than 6 months, and participate in a simple but effective volunteer screening program are heartily welcomed! Ongoing needs are:

  • Children’s Substitute Teachers
  • Children’s Church teachers
  • Song Leaders
  • Support staff
  • Prayer Warriors
  • Recorders (someone to write notes of praise, “miss you”, and birthday cards)

If you would like to help in this ministry, please e-mail Jane Houston, or call her at 775-747-1217 ext. 229.

Summer – Vacation Bible School

During the summer months, we schedule time for Vacation Bible School – an exciting, interactive program – fun for the whole family!

Fall – Harvest Festival

Our church-wide harvest festival takes place on Nevada Day; an event for the church family and neighborhood. This is an evening of fun, fellowship, and food which you are able to share with friends and family; Activities include, games and contests – apple-dunking, pie-eating; a cake-walk; face-painting, and free food! Dress up in your favorite (not scary or creepy) costume. You won’t want to miss this evening!

Winter – Service Projects “around the world”

During the Christmas Season, Children’s Ministries devotes time and service to serving the body – putting hands and feet to our faith. Some of these activities include our Children’s Choir presentation, collecting gloves and coats for those less fortunate and making “shoeboxes” for Operation Christmas Child.

Information

Awana meets on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30 pm during the school year. New attendees are welcome to join in at anytime!

The Awana ministry works in unison with other ministries at Sierra Bible Church to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. Both children and adults are given the opportunity to memorize God’s Word, share the Gospel, and leadership training. Training is available through both the local clubs and, when in high school, can apply for mission trips both within and outside the United States. Adults are encouraged to take part in leadership training both within Awana and their local church. Our club is under direct control of our church, however, the regional Awana Missionaries provide additional training and support to Awana churches and clubs.
