God’s Experiential Presence

We all know that God is omnipresent, present everywhere at the same time in His fullness, yet sometimes we don’t sense His presence or experience it in our daily lives! Here are some places where God has promise to be ‘with you’ in an experiential way!

All people are accountable to God whether or not they have “heard about Him.” The Bible tells us that God has clearly revealed Himself in nature (Romans 1:20 ) and in the hearts of people (Ecclesiastes 3:11 ). The problem is that the human race is sinful; we all reject this knowledge of God and rebel against Him (Romans 1:21-23 ). If it were not for God's grace, we would be given over to the sinful desires of our hearts, allowing us to discover how useless and miserable life is apart from Him. He does this for those who continually reject Him (Romans 1:24-32 ).

There’s a direction we need to go! Some of the ways we are told to walk in the NT is to walk in love, walk in the light, walk in wisdom, walk by faith, walk in newness of life, walk worthy of our calling . . . But before you just take off walking, remember we need to ‘walk in the Spirit’! Jesus told the disciples to ‘wait’ for the Spirit. You know what the disciples were doing in the upper room while they waited? They were praying . . . and they were reading the scriptures. We already have the Spirit in us but before we start our day, and bolt out that door, we need to pray and read the scriptures and wait . . . then we need to walk. During the day when decisions have to be made, wait (stop in your mind and wait for the Spirit), you see an opportunity to witness, . . .wait . . .and then walk in the Spirit. The trials of the day are beginning to weigh you down and you have no peace . . . wait . . . And then walk in the Spirit. The word walk means to order your manner of life. We should order our manner of life after the Spirit . . . that’s walking in the Spirit or being filled with the Spirit. Wait . . . and then walk!
